Your child is capable. So why does everything feel like a battle?

Many students I work with are bright and capable, but don’t yet have the skills to put it all in place. Executive function coaching helps students build the skills they need to navigate school and everyday life with more confidence and independence.

Who is this for?

I work with students at every stage
Every child is different, and so are the ways I support them. In 1:1 coaching, your student will learn strategies and build skills to help grow independence and confidence.

  • Elementary: Building the foundation for independence.

Students who are beginning to struggle with routines, transitions, frustration tolerance, or following multi-step directions. Coaching at this age focuses on building early foundations for emotional regulation, flexibility, and simple executive function skills that support success at school and home.

  • Middle School: Strengthening skills as demands increase.

Students who feel overwhelmed by increasing academic expectations, organization demands, and managing multiple assignments. Coaching focuses on planning, task initiation, organization systems, and managing frustration when work feels difficult or overwhelming.

  • High School: Preparing for independence.

Students who need support managing increasing independence, longer-term assignments, and balancing school responsibilities. Coaching focuses on planning ahead, time management, breaking down larger tasks, and developing systems that help students follow through more independently.

What I can help with:

Coaching is individualized based on each student’s needs, but common focus areas include:

  • 🧘 Emotional regulation and managing frustration

  • ✅ Task initiation and follow-through

  • 📚 Organization of materials and assignments

  • 📝 Planning and breaking down tasks

  • ⏰ Time awareness and time management

  • 🤔 Flexible thinking and problem solving

  • 🏠 Building independence with school routines

  • 🗣️ Communication and self-advocacy

What makes Cognitive Roots different?

My approach is grounded in my background as an occupational therapist with specialized training in executive function and sensory integration.

Rather than focusing only on productivity tools, we begin with emotional regulation, because when students feel overwhelmed or frustrated, executive function skills are much harder or impossible to access.

By supporting regulation first, students are better able to develop the skills they need for school and everyday life.
